Kolkata, 31 January (H.S.): Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, made serious allegations against the Trinamool Congress in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. In his post, he claimed that the Trinamool Congress will never allow the process of special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in West Bengal to be completed fairly and peacefully.
According to Suvendu Adhikari, the Trinamool leadership knows very well that if a clean and transparent voter list is prepared, the party will suffer heavy political losses. He said that it is due to this fear that all Trinamool leaders, big and small, are opposing the SIR process.
In his post, Suvendu Adhikari, citing a video, alleged that Trinamool block president of Pandua Sanjay Ghosh was trying to disrupt the peacefully conducted SIR hearing. He also alleged that the concerned Trinamool leader directly threatened an Election Commission official and tried to incite local people against the SIR.
Suvendu Adhikari further said that despite all its efforts, the Trinamool Congress will not succeed in its intentions. He claimed that during the SIR process, the names of fake voters, deceased voters, and illegal Bangladeshi-Rohingya voters will be removed from the voter list. He said that once elections are held based on a transparent voter list, the Trinamool Congress will not be able to return to power.
