Guwahati, 31 January (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Saturday attended the valedictory function of the Janajati Sammelan and the 30th foundation day celebration of the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture at Assam Royal Global University.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said tribal communities are custodians of India’s ancient traditions and sustainable lifestyles rooted in harmony with nature. He stressed that the holistic development of tribal society must balance material progress with cultural values, social responsibility and spiritual growth.

Highlighting India’s unity in diversity, Acharya recalled the contributions of tribal icons such as Birsa Munda, Tilka Manjhi and Rani Durgavati. He said development should strengthen tribal identity, language and self-respect to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth. ALA
