Chennai, 31 January (H.S.) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly reaffirmed the commitment of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) to fulfilling its electoral pledges, asserting that the party only makes promises it can realistically deliver.

Speaking at a massive public event in Sivagangai on Saturday, the Chief Minister highlighted the district's historic legacy of valour and social justice, while simultaneously launching a series of major developmental initiatives. During the visit, Stalin inaugurated forty-nine completed projects valued at two thousand five hundred and sixty crore rupees and laid foundation stones for twenty-eight new projects.

The Chief Minister utilized the platform to contrast the DMK's performance with that of the opposition, specifically targeting the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for failing to implement key manifesto promises during their previous tenure.

Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model of governance has successfully delivered impactful schemes such as the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai, providing monthly assistance to over two lakh women in Sivagangai alone. He also mentioned that the state government has been proactive in distributing welfare assistance worth two hundred and five crore rupees to more than fifteen thousand beneficiaries during this single visit.

In a sharp critique of the Central Government, the Chief Minister expressed grave concern over the dilution of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He stated that any move to weaken this scheme would severely impact rural livelihoods and noted that the Tamil Nadu Assembly has already passed a resolution demanding its continuation with full funding.

Stalin further urged the Prime Minister and the Governor to examine their own economic reports, which have praised Tamil Nadu for its exceptional industrial growth and job creation, despite their frequent public criticisms.
