DMK MP KANIMOZHI stated on Friday that the alliance negotiations between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Indian National Congress are moving forward in a positive direction. Addressing the media in Thoothukudi, she mentioned that the party leadership would make a formal announcement once all levels of discussions are finalized. This statement follows a recent high profile meeting between Congress leader RAHUL GANDHI and KANIMOZHI in New Delhi, where the two leaders spent nearly an hour discussing the strategic roadmap for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Although the meeting was described as pleasant, sources indicate that specific seat numbers have not yet been finalized. According to authority versions from the AICC, the Congress state leadership is reportedly seeking a share in the government, drawing comparisons to the Jharkhand power sharing formula. Tamil Nadu AICC In charge GIRISH CHODANKAR informed that while the Congress formed its alliance committee back in November, they are currently waiting for a definitive response from the DMK to seal the deal. The opposition's aggressive campaigning has prompted the Congress to urge for a quick conclusion to these talks. In the previous 2021 Assembly elections, the DMK secured 133 seats while the Congress won 18 in the 234 member house. As the state prepares for the first half of the 2026 election cycle, both parties are working to resolve internal demands to present a united front against the NDA.
