
Guwahati, 24 January (HS): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is tirelessly working round the clock to serve its customers and ensure the prompt delivery of essential commodities to end users. During the month of December, NFR achieved a total freight loading of 0.952 million tonnes (MT), marking a 8.4% increase over the corresponding period of the previous year. Cumulatively, up to December of the current fiscal, NFR loaded 8.250 million tonnes, surpassing last year’s achievement of 7.729 million tonnes and registering a growth of 6.7%.
In December last, several commodities witnessed significant growth compared to the same month last year. Cement loading surged dramatically by 148.0%, while fertilizer loading rose by 350.0%. Dolomite loading saw an increase of 14.6% and Container loading recorded a substantial jump of 13.3%. In the “Others” segment, stone chips showed a remarkable increase of 92.6% and Miscellaneous loading improved by 350.0%, indicating higher demand and movement of construction related materials across the region.
The consistent growth in freight loading reflects the rising economic activity in the region. This upward trend has not only strengthened the region’s economic landscape but also contributed significantly to NFR’s revenue.
