
Duliajan (Assam), 22 January (HS): A tense situation prevailed in Duliajan after a road accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist, triggering public outrage and protests in the area.
Police informed on Thursday that the incident occurred at Dirial in Duliajan, where a high-speed tanker rammed into a motorcycle, killing the rider on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Manoj Shah.
Following the accident, angry locals staged a protest by placing the body on the Duliajan–Dibrugarh PWD road and blocking traffic, demanding strict action against those responsible. Protesters also vandalised the tanker involved in the accident, venting their anger over the fatal incident.
Police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and took control of the situation. Traffic movement was later restored and the situation was brought under control, officials said.-----------
