Kolkata, 19 January (H.S.) :
Senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Sougata Roy was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on Sunday night after his health condition deteriorated, family sources said.
According to hospital officials, Roy’s condition is currently stable and he is under close medical observation. He was rushed to the hospital after he fell ill on Sunday evening.
This is not the first time the veteran leader has been hospitalised due to health issues. In July last year, Roy was admitted to hospital following medical complications. He is known to be suffering from Type-2 diabetes. Earlier, in June, he was taken to hospital after complaining of chest pain and breathing difficulties.
In April last year, Roy’s health worsened while attending a programme in Ariadaha. He reportedly fell ill while stepping out of his vehicle, after which he was admitted to hospital and a pacemaker was implanted. In March, he had also experienced health issues during the Parliament session in New Delhi.
Despite these recurring health concerns, Sougata Roy attended the recently concluded Winter Session of Parliament. A team of doctors is currently monitoring his condition.
