Chennai, 19 January (H.S.) : According to the office of the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay appeared at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters on Monday for a second round of intense questioning regarding the Karur stampede case.
The actor arrived at the agency's office located on Lodhi Road in a convoy of luxury vehicles during the morning hours. Officials stated that a specialized team, led by an officer of Deputy Superintendent rank from the Anti Corruption unit, conducted the inquiry.
This follows an initial questioning session held on January 12, where the actor was interrogated for more than six hours. Although previously summoned for last Tuesday, Vijay had requested an alternative date due to the Pongal festival celebrations.
The federal agency took over the investigation from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following a specific order from the Supreme Court. The probe pertains to the tragic stampede that occurred on September 27, 2025, in Karur, Tamil Nadu, which resulted in the loss of 41 lives and left more than 60 individuals injured.
CBI officials have been meticulously gathering evidence to determine the circumstances leading to the disaster. According to authority versions, the agency is focusing on procedural lapses and safety protocols during the event. The investigation remains ongoing as the federal team seeks further clarifications from various stakeholders involved.
The actor's cooperation with the agency is part of the broader legal process to ensure accountability for the unfortunate incident.
