New Delhi, 19 January (H.S.): Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal's office issued a strong rebuttal on Monday against media reports alleging internal Assam BJP conflict, terming a circulating letter purportedly authored by the minister as completely fake, fabricated, and forged. The controversy erupted when certain media outlets claimed Sonowal wrote to BJP National President demanding leadership change in Assam and leveling accusations against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Sonowal's office took serious note of these reports clarifying the letter uses a forged official letterhead and fake signature.Circulation of such fraudulent material constitutes serious criminal offenses including forgery, impersonation, and misuse of official government identity, apparently designed to spread misinformation and discredit a constitutional authority.
An FIR has been lodged, with law enforcement agencies directed to investigate on priority and pursue strict legal action against perpetrators.Sonowal's office categorically rejected all claims in the reports, asserting zero truth to allegations of internal rivalry or any correspondence from the minister.
The public and media were advised against relying on or disseminating unverified material, urged to verify information solely through official authorized sources.
