New Delhi, 19 January (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party's national president election reached virtual closure on Monday with 37 nomination sets filed in favor of senior leader Nitin Nabin (46), virtually guaranteeing his unopposed ascension to party chief. Nomination process commenced at 2:00 PM at BJP headquarters, concluding at 4:00 PM, with withdrawal window open until 6:00 PM.Of the nominations, 36 originated from states/UTs, while the 37th—carrying maximum prestige—came from BJP National Council and Parliamentary Party.

Proposers included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, outgoing president JP Nadda, and 20 other senior central leaders. Each nomination paper bears 20 proposers' signatures.

Organisation Parv 2024 Milestone

This election culminates BJP's constitutionally mandated internal polls under Organisation Parv 2024, progressing from grassroots to national tier:

Booth Level: 7,88,197 Booth Presidents elected (74% of 10,70,462 booths); 89,47,845 booth committee members constituted

Mandal Level: 16,469 Mandal Presidents elected (93% of 17,743 mandals; age cap <45 introduced)

District Level: 978 District Presidents elected (94% of 1,036 districts)

State Level: 30/37 organisational states completed State President elections

State Councils: 4,932/6,384 members elected (80%)

National Council: 741/815 seats filled (92%)

BJP's Electoral College—comprising 35 nominated Parliamentary Party members, 741 elected National Council members, and 4,932 State Council members—totals 5,708 voters. Formal declaration occurs Tuesday, January 20 at 11:00 AM, with PM Modi attending alongside ~700 representatives.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed PM Modi's signed first-set nomination completion, with state nominations continuing through evening. Scrutiny follows at 4:00-5:00 PM. Jharkhand ex-president Babulal Marandi hailed BJP's cadre-based structure enabling ordinary workers' top ascent, predicting party strengthening under Nabin.
