Guwahati, 18 January (HS): Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi on Sunday issued an open political challenge to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, asking him to contest the upcoming Assembly election from Dhubri’s Birsing Jarua constituency instead of remaining confined to Delhi and Dispur.

Addressing reporters, Akhil Gogoi said mere commentary from power corridors would not suffice and dared Gaurav Gogoi to enter the electoral fray on the ground to test his political strength. He asserted that real leadership is proved among the people, not from distant offices.

The Raijor Dal leader also announced that his party would go for a “friendly contest” in 23 minority-dominated Assembly constituencies if Congress fails to field candidates there. He maintained that Raijor Dal’s objective is to ensure representation and protect democratic competition in areas where voters are often left without credible alternatives.-----------
