New Delhi, 16 January (H.S.):
Patiala House Court's Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna ordered six accused in the Red Fort blast case, including Dr. Shehn Syeed, to remain in judicial custody until February 13. The court issued directives sending Mufti Irfan Ahmad, Zaheer Bilal Wani alias Danish, Dr. Adil Ahmad, Yaseer Ahmad Dar, and Dr. Mujammil Shakeel to judicial custody alongside Dr. Shehn Syeed.
On January 14, the court had previously remanded all accused except Dar into National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody until January 16; they appeared in court today following the expiry of that period. The NIA arrested Danish from Srinagar.
According to the NIA, Danish modified drone technology and attempted to prepare rockets before the car bomb explosion. The agency alleges Danish played a pivotal role in executing the entire conspiracy alongside Umar Un Nabi. NIA further claims that Umar brainwashed Danish, a political science graduate, to become a suicide attacker; Danish met the doctor module in a Kulgam mosque in October 2024, after which he was taken to Al Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, for residence.
The blast occurred near the Red Fort on November 10, 2025, inside an I-10 car registered in the name of Ameer Rasheed Ali. The explosion claimed 13 lives and injured 32 others.
