New Delhi, 14 January (H.S.): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached movable and immovable properties worth ₹35.22 crore belonging to the Sumaya Group and its associated companies. The central probe agency executed this action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Mumbai Zonal Office of the central investigating agency announced on Wednesday that it had provisionally attached properties valued at ₹35.22 crore in a case involving the Sumaya Group and its affiliates. These assets encompass movable properties such as bank balances, demat holdings, and mutual funds, along with two immovable properties.

The ED initiated this investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, based on a First Information Report (FIR) registered at the Worli Police Station.The FIR accuses Sumaya Industries Limited, its promoters, and other individuals and entities of embezzling approximately ₹137 crore by making false promises of benefits under a purported future 'Need to Feed' scheme.
