Sukma, 14 January (H.S.): In Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, 29 Naxalites surrendered collectively at Gogunda on Wednesday. All these individuals belonged to the armed cadre of the Darbha Division.Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan revealed that the Naxalites deposited 10 modern weapons, including three AK-47 rifles, one SLR, three INSAS rifles, two .303 rifles, and one .30 carbine rifle. This marks the largest Naxalite surrender in Gogunda area this year.
The Superintendent of Police stated that the establishment of a security camp in Gogunda has created an environment of permanent security and development in the region. Continuous pressure and the government's 'Puna Margem' policy are compelling Naxalites to return to the mainstream. He appealed to remaining active Naxalites, asserting that they have only one option left: abandon violence and join the 'Puna Margem' rehabilitation campaign to begin a life of dignity.
CRPF 74th Battalion Commandant Himanshu Pandey remarked that the combined strategy of security, trust, and development from the government is making the end of Naxalism possible.
