Itanagar, 06 August (HS): The body of 22-year-old Tamin Dirang, who had been missing for the past four days, was recovered from the Parnag River on Wednesday, police in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh said.
According to Sagli police, a missing person report was filed on August 3 by Nabam Takam Hina, stating that Dirang, a resident of EPO village under Sagli sub-division, had gone fishing in the Parnag River and failed to return home.
Under the supervision of Papum Pare Superintendent of Police Taru Gusar, a joint search and rescue operation was launched involving NDRF personnel, local villagers, and the police team led by OC SI Joram Takap. Despite continuous efforts by police, locals, and Dirang’s family and friends, his whereabouts remained unknown until the body was found today.
After recovery, all legal formalities were completed and the body was handed over to the family for last rites. Initial reports suggest the case to be a suspected drowning, though a case has been registered at Sagli police station and further investigation is underway.
