Miami, August 6(HS): Inter Miami faces a significant setback in the Leagues Cup 2025 as star player Lionel Messi will miss the crucial group stage match against Pumas UNAM due to a mild muscle injury in his right thigh, confirmed by coach Javier Mascherano on Tuesday.

Messi got injured during Miami's recent victory over Necaxa. Although Mascherano noted that Messi generally recovers quickly, he will not participate in tomorrow's game. Messi has scored 18 goals in MLS this season and was pivotal in Inter Miami's 2023 Leagues Cup triumph.

For Miami to reach the quarter-finals, a win against Pumas UNAM is essential. Messi may return in about two weeks if the team advances.
