New Delhi, August 6 (H.S.): In the second season match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday night, West Delhi Lions handed a crushing defeat to South Delhi Superstarz by 8 wickets. The heroes of this victory were opener Ankit Kumar and wicketkeeper-batsman Krish Yadav, who provided a strong start to the team.
Chasing a target of 186 runs, the West Delhi Lions started explosively. Ankit and Krish shared a whirlwind partnership of 158 runs for the first wicket in just 14 overs, which completely changed the course of the match. Krish Yadav played a fantastic innings of 67 runs off 42 balls, featuring delightful strokes and quick running.
Meanwhile, Ankit Kumar narrowly missed a century, being dismissed for a blistering 96 runs off 46 balls. His innings included 11 fours and 6 towering sixes.
Earlier, South Delhi Superstarz had a good start while batting first. Openers Kunwar Bidhuri (42 runs in 27 balls) and Sumit Mathur (33 runs in 29 balls) added 74 runs for the first wicket. Captain Ayush Badoni also played a crucial innings of 48 runs off 25 balls.
However, after the middle overs, the Superstarz' innings collapsed, and the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Ultimately, the team managed to score only 185 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. The West Delhi Lions' bowlers delivered an excellent performance in the death overs. Anirudh Chaudhary took 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Meanwhile, Manan Bhardwaj contributed with figures of 2/23, and Hrithik Shokeen took 1/16.
