Amroha, 27 Aug (HS): According to police, a head constable with the
Uttar Pradesh Police was detained on Wednesday for allegedly setting fire to
his wife after a dowry quarrel.
Devendra Singh, the accused, is posted at Rampur. According to police sources,
the victim's family filed a FIR at the Didauli police station accusing Devendra
of torturing his wife, Parul Singh, for dowry purposes.
Parul, a nurse in Ikonda village and the daughter of Vachan Singh from Bhanpur
Khalsa village, was severely burned during the attack at Narangpur village on
Tuesday. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akhilesh
Bhadauria, the woman was first taken to a local hospital in severe condition
before being sent to Delhi for further medical attention. Police have yet to
confirm the cause of the event. The officer confirmed the arrest, stating that
Devendra Singh was detained on Wednesday and produced in court. The victim is
still in serious condition as authorities continue their investigation.
