- Minister Pijush Hazarika attends 82nd Central Session of Sadou Asom Sutradhar Chatra Santha in Bijni

Bijni (Assam), 10 August (HS): Assam Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment Pijush Hazarika on Sunday attended the 82nd Central Session of the Sadou Asom Sutradhar Chatra Santha in Bijni. The two-day programme was organised jointly by the Sadou Asom Sutradhar Students’ Union, BTR Sutradhar Students’ Union, and Chirang District Sutradhar Students’ Union.

Addressing the gathering, Hazarika highlighted the state government’s initiatives for the Sutradhar community and urged representatives to take up new measures for its educational, social, economic, and political upliftment. Stressing that education is the key to success, he encouraged community students to aim for competitive exams and professional fields like medicine and engineering. He also called for setting up funds to support intensive coaching for aspirants of administrative services.

Hazarika pointed to increased educational opportunities in Assam and advised the community to fully utilise seat reservations for Scheduled Castes in medical education. He suggested creating a financial assistance mechanism for deserving students and revealed that discussions, led by the Chief Minister, are underway to establish a Development Council for the community.

The event was attended by Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai, MLA Ajoy Kumar Ray, Kamatapur Autonomous Council CEC Jibesh Roy, BTR Executive Member Arup Kumar Dey, Sadou Asom Sutradhar Students’ Union President Lakhikanta Sutradhar, BJP District President Ratan Roy and other dignitaries.
