Guwahati, 08 December (HS):

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has once again drawn widespread attention after Pakistani media prominently featured his remarks on multiple occasions, triggering debates not only in Assam but also across the country. Pakistani news outlets have repeatedly highlighted issues raised by Gogoi in Parliament, often linking them to their own narratives against the Indian government.

In July this year too, Gogoi had turned into a favourite topic for Pakistani broadcasters. During the Parliament session, his comments questioning India’s success in Operation Sindhur were extensively covered, with several Pakistani channels publishing reports praising his speech. At the time, Gogoi had alleged in Parliament that India had lost five Rafale fighter jets—remarks that Pakistani media quoted in detail.

Pakistani outlets have also been quick to pick up Gogoi’s social media posts. His tweets related to the SIA were circulated widely, projected almost as original content and used to amplify propaganda critical of the Modi government. Several Pakistani accounts even commented that Gogoi would once again expose the government’s “undemocratic” character in the ongoing Parliament session.

According to diplomatic observers, Pakistan’s persistent attempt—through the ISI, its media, and other channels—to portray the current Indian government as undemocratic could pose concerns at the international stage. At a time when India is strengthening its global standing, such activities, experts warn, may be aimed at weakening India’s image worldwide.
