26 July (HS): The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Motilal Nehru
Medical College, Prayagraj organized a one-day special program on “Mental
Health, Self-Management and Meditation” at the Pritam Das Auditorium on
Saturday.
The program was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by the Principal of the
college, Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Pandey. Former Principal Dr. S.P. Singh was also
present on this occasion, who praised the program and said that Mental
stability and understanding of self-management is very important for medical
students and doctors not only for their personal development, but also for the
quality of medical service. Such events provide a holistic approach to medical
education.
Leading the event, Organizing Secretary and Head of Department of Forensic
Medicine and Toxicology, Prof. (Dr.) Archana Kaul said that In this era of
fast-paced lifestyle, mental balance and introspection have become extremely
necessary. This program was not just an educational event but a journey of
self-discovery. Our endeavour is that the youth associated with the medical
profession should become mentally strong and emotionally balanced, so that they
can maintain a balance between serving the society and their own welfare.
The stage was conducted by co-convener Sarita Singh.
Keynote speaker H.G. Achyuta Mohan Das (President, ISKCON Prayagraj and
Varanasi) presented insightful thoughts on the topic “Peace of Mind or Pieces
of Mind.” After this, H.G. Dhaval Krishna Prabhuji (Assistant Professor, IIT
BHU) shared important tips on “Self Management for Success” regarding
discipline, self-introspection and work-motivation in life. Dr. Abhishek Pratap
Singh (Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, M.L.N. Medical College)
on the topic “Breaking the Silence and Seeking Help” emphasized on the need to
break the social silence related to mental health and seek timely help.
The special highlight of the program was the “Mantra Meditation Workshop”
conducted by H.G. Satyasankarshan Prabhuji (Vice President, ISKCON Prayagraj).
All the participants present in this session got the experience of group meditation
and mantra sadhna.
On this occasion, eminent teachers and experts from various departments of the
college were present, prominent names among them are - former Principal Dr.
Vatsala Mishra, Dr. Kachnar Verma, Dr. Rakesh Chandra Chaurasia, Dr. Reena Sachan,
Dr. Kavita Chawla, Dr. Binu, Dr. Subiya, Dr. Dinesh, Dr. D.K. Nim, Dr. Badal,
Dr. Rajesh Rai, Dr. Mohit Jain, Dr. R.B. Kamal, Dr. Preeti Gupta, Dr. Neelam
Singh (Chief Superintendent, SRN), Dr. Santosh Kumar and other medical teachers
and officers. Hundreds of resident doctors, interns and students actively
participated in the entire program. In the end, Organizing Secretary Prof.
(Dr.) Archana Kaul expressed gratitude to all the guests, speakers,
participants and support team and said that the college administration,
technical staff, students and volunteers played an incomparable role in making
this event a success, for which they all deserve special thanks.
