World Hepatitis Day: Awareness prog lays emphasis on timely diagnosis and treatment

26 July (HS): On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, an awareness program was

organized by the Department of Microbiology Moti Lal Nehru Medical College,

Prayagraj on July 25 and 26, 2025 at Prof. Preetam Das Auditorium. A large

number of students and faculty members participated in the program with great

enthusiasm.

The

event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the inaugural

address by Ex principal Prof Dr SP Singh,

Principal of the Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Prof. V. K. Pandey. In

his address, he emphasized the global challenge of hepatitis, its modes of

transmission, preventive measures, and the importance of timely diagnosis and

treatment. He also encouraged students to play a positive role in society by

spreading health awareness.

The

program was presided over by Lt. Dr. Reena Sachan, Head of the Department of

Microbiology. She presented the detailed outline of the program and, in her

address, appealed to all to come forward to prevent the spread of hepatitis.

She stressed the importance of early diagnosis and timely initiation of

treatment.

On

this occasion, poster and quiz competitions were organized for MBBS students,

in which they participated enthusiastically. The winners of the competitions

were honored with certificates of appreciation.

Distinguished

guests included Prof Dr.S.P.Singh, Prof. Neelam Singh, Chief Superintendent of

Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital; Dr. Monika, Associate Professor; Dr. Garima Gaur,

Assistant Professor; Dr. Anjali, and Dr. Shalini Gupta, along with medical

faculty members from other departments. All experts provided in-depth

information to the participants on different types of hepatitis, prevention,

vaccination, and various aspects of public awareness.

This

successful event served not only as a means of enhancing students' knowledge,

but also strengthened their sense of health education and social

responsibility.
