26 July (HS): A case of love jihad and religious conversion has come to light

from Sangrampur police station area of Amethi district of UP. Taking immediate

cognizance of the matter, Amethi police officials have registered a case in

view of the seriousness of the matter and started the necessary legal proceedings.

wife of Kalicharan, resident of Madaripur Majra Himmatgarh village of

Sangrampur police station area of Amethi district, gave a complaint letter to

the police on July 24, saying that Sonu alias Irfan Ali Mohammad Sheikh son of

Roshan Ali Sheikh Mohammad resident of Siddharthnagar, present address Gavate

Badi Ekta Nagar Pipeline MIDC Road Police Station Belapur Navi Mumbai

Maharashtra, lured her daughter Sarita and took her away from home on July 2

with the intention of converting her religion. Sonu alias Irfan Mohammad used

to talk to her daughter on mobile phone. After the disappearance of the

daughter, keeping in mind their honor and dignity, the whole family kept

searching for her in the nearby villages and relatives' houses but the girl was

not found. After this, the girl's mother came to know that Sonu alias Irfan is

living in Mumbai with her daughter. He is trying to convert her daughter's

religion. The victim told that her family belongs to the Kurmi caste of Hindu

religion. In such a situation, they first ran away with her daughter for committing

love jihad and now want to convert her to Islam. The victim woman has pleaded

with the police to take action on this serious matter.

Police

Circle Officer Amethi Manoj Kumar Mishra said on Saturday that a written

complaint has been received from the woman, on which the police immediately

registered a case under relevant sections related to the girl's elopement and

religious conversion. The police are conducting raids while investigating and a

police team has been dispatched to rescue the girl. The girl will be recovered

soon and necessary legal action will be taken.
