New Delhi, July 26 (HS): Anurag Singh Thakur, former Union Minister, emphasized that Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates the bravery and honor of the Indian Army. He called it a celebration of national pride, highlighting the sacrifices made by soldiers to protect and defend the country.

Anurag Thakur addressed a ceremony at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi as the Chief Guest on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Saturday, with Lieutenant General (Retd.) Vinod Khandare in attendance. The event was organized under the leadership of Colonel Akash Patil, Director of the Dr. Ambedkar International Center.

Former Union Minister Anurag Thakur paid tribute to the brave sons of India, highlighting the Indian Army's valor during the Kargil conflict in 1999, where they demonstrated exceptional courage against the Pakistani army, setting high standards of bravery globally.

The Kargil victory symbolizes national pride, transcending political affiliations. It celebrates the country's heritage and dignity. Engaging the current generation with the valorous tales of the Indian Army through events is essential to keep their stories alive.

Anurag Thakur highlighted the significant contribution of soldiers from Himachal Pradesh and other states in the Kargil war, where many sacrificed their lives for India. He honored the bravery of heroes like Param Vir Chakra Awardees Late Captain Vikram Batra and Sanjay Kumar, which elevated Himachal Pradesh's stature. The sacrifices of Captain Saurabh Kalia and 52 other soldiers from the state remain unforgettable, inspiring future generations to defend the nation.
