New Delhi, July 26 (H.S.): The 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi, celebrating India’s triumph over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil War. The event featured school children in army uniforms performing cultural programs that embodied patriotism. Chief guest MP Anurag Thakur energized the audience with passionate calls for Mother India, emphasizing that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a narrative of the bravery of Indian soldiers who defended territorial integrity against Pakistani incursions.

Thakur reflected on the valor displayed during 'Operation Vijay,' recalling how soldiers' unwavering commitment resulted in a decisive victory that secured national sovereignty. He underscored the sacrifices made, honoring the contributions from various regions, including the brave soldiers from Himachal Pradesh like Param Veer Chakra recipients Captain Vikram Batra and Sanjay Kumar, and acknowledging the martyrdom of Captain Saurabh Kalia and 52 other soldiers from the state.

Thakur’s remarks highlighted the importance of preserving the legacy of these heroes through ongoing programs that connect contemporary youth with historical acts of valor. He stressed that the victory achieved in Kargil transcended governmental or partisan success; it was truly a national victory, symbolizing pride and dignity for India.

Lieutenant General Vinod Khandare, a distinguished guest, further encouraged students to recognize their potential in contributing to the nation. The event aimed to inspire the younger generation by paying homage to those who sacrificed their lives in defense of India, ensuring that their stories of courage continue to resonate. The gathering at DAIC was marked by a collective spirit of nationalism and remembrance, reinforcing the need to honor the sacrifices made by India's armed forces. The Kargil victory stands as a celebration of the indomitable spirit of the nation and its defenders.
