-Kiran Rijiju made the official announcement in Mumbai
Mumbai, July 1 (H.S.): Senior BJP leader and former minister Ravindra Chavan was elected today, Tuesday, as the new state president of Maharashtra. BJP leader and Central Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Development Minister Kiran Rijiju made the official announcement. Chavan took over from the outgoing state president, Chandrashekhar Bawankule. On this occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the outgoing state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ashish Shelar, Vinod Tawde, and many other BJP legislators and office bearers were present.
Although former minister Ravindra Chavan has been elected unopposed as state president, he was given the responsibility of BJP's acting state president a few days ago. The announcement of Ravindra Chavan's presidency was made by Minister Kiran Rijiju at a grand event held at Worli Dome in Mumbai. The event attracted such a record-breaking crowd that BJP workers had to stand to witness it.
Ravindra Chavan was the only candidate to submit an application for the position of Maharashtra BJP state president. Since no one else submitted their application, Ravindra Chavan has been elected unopposed as the new state president of the BJP. Ravindra Chavan's election is considered significant in the context of the upcoming municipal elections. Ravindra Chavan has been elected four times from the Dombivli assembly constituency. He is an effective leader with a strong grassroots connection to BJP workers.
Ravindra Chavan entered politics through the BJP's youth wing and has held various responsibilities, including councilor, chairperson of the standing committee in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, four-time MLA, state general secretary of the BJP, and minister. Starting his career as a volunteer with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and reaching the position of BJP state president is a remarkable journey. Ravindra Chavan's election provides new leadership for the organizational work of the BJP in Maharashtra, and it is hoped that the party will become active again for the upcoming elections.
