Thiruvananthapuram, 01 July(HS): Hindustan Samachar had carried an exclusive report on the ruling CPI(M)’s plans to bump off Governor Rajendra Arlekar because he dared to garland the portrait of Bharat Matha in Raj Bhavan. Two more incidents have come out recently substantiating the findings of HS that the CPI(M) comrades are experts in the habit of assassinating those who are not toeing their line of thinling.
On 25th June which was the 50th anniversary of the internal emergency proclaimed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975 to subvert the Indian Constitution, the Governor had attended a function organized by Sri Padmanabha Seva Samithi and released a book authored by K B Surendran about the dark days.
The youth wing of the CPI(M) tried to gatecrash into the venue (University Senate Hall) and created chaos to disrupt the function. But thanks to the timely intervention of RSS volunteers, the Governor could release the book and deliver an inspiring speech.
On Monday, the Kerala Government decided to appoint Ravada Chandrasekhar as the new State Police Chief following the superannuation of the incumbent chief Sheikh Darwesh Sahib. But a faction of the CPI(M) led by P Jayarajan, the Kannur based party strongman questioned the propriety of appointing Chandrasekhar as the Police Chief. Jayarajan said that Chandrasekhar was an accused in the death of six party workers in Kannur who were out to finish off M V Raghavan, the then minister for co-operation in November 1994.
The young comrades had been asked by the party leaders to assassinate Raghavan, who had left the CPI(M) and launched his own outfit by name CMP. Raghavan was smoked out of the CPI(M) by the then secretary V S Achuthanandan and former chief minister E K Nayanar for his demand that the CPI(M) should forge an alliance with the Muslim League and other Islamic extremist organisations. It was the timely intervention of Ravada Chandrasekhar who was the then Assistant Superintendent of Police and other police officers that saved Raghavan’s life.
P Jayarajan while speaking to reporters immediately after the announcement about the new State Police Chief expressed his displeasure and unhappiness over the selection of Chandrasekhar as the new police chief. Though the then government had placed Chandrasekhar and other cops under suspension, the court had acquitted all of them as they had to resort to firing to save the minister from the marauding mob.
