Sonitpur (Assam), 2 June (HS): Police have arrested a drug peddler with a huge quantity of heroin from Balipara area of Sonitpur district. Police said on Monday that during an operation based on secret information, Charduar police arrested the peddler with a huge quantity of drugs from Miri village of Uriyam Ghat of Balipara in the district.

The arrested peddler has been identified as Shahidul Islam. Police have recovered heroin worth more than ₹5 lakh from the arrested accused. Police have registered an FIR under the NDPS Act in this regard and are investigating the matter accordingly.
