Bhubaneswar, 4 June (H.S.): Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam or One Tree in the Name of Mother is a profound commitment to honoring nature. This year, the expansive tree plantation campaign is being further scaled up with the launch of One Tree for Mother 2.0. Under this second phase, the goal is to plant 10 crore trees across the country from June 5 (World Environment Day) to September 30.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, through a video message, has especially appealed to students to actively participate in the campaign.

The Minister said that One Tree for Mother is an emotional and meaningful concept. The Government of India launched it as a nationwide tree plantation drive aimed at protecting the environment and spreading awareness about the importance of tree planting among the general public. Thanks to the sincere efforts of citizens, One Tree for Mother has now evolved into a mass movement across the country.

Under this campaign, more than 5.5 crore trees have already been planted across the country. Each tree is not just a sapling, but a symbol of our affection, respect, and love for our mothers. It also reflects our deep bond and connection with Mother Earth.

Efforts like the seed balls prepared by children and women in Chhattisgarh, tree plantation initiatives in Tripura, and the plantation of 1.5 crore saplings in Rajasthan have given this campaign a unique identity. Contributions from citizens across the country, including Odisha, have transformed this into a powerful national movement.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan stated that this campaign is not just about numbers, but a true expression of our love and responsibility towards nature. It is a dedication to the future, where nature is considered an inseparable part of our lives.
