Bhubaneswar, 13 June (H.S.): In response to escalating tensions following a violent group clash, the Bhadrak district administration has extended the suspension of internet services by another 12 hours, aiming to curb the spread of misinformation and maintain public order. The restriction will remain in effect until 6 PM today and covers Bhadrak block and municipality, Dhamnagar block and NAC, and Tihidi block.
The unrest stems from a violent altercation on May 30, reportedly linked to a dispute over cattle transportation, which led to the death of Santosh Parida from Tihidi. Parida, who had sustained critical injuries during the clash, succumbed on Wednesday, triggering public unrest and heightened tensions across the region.
To manage the situation and prevent further escalation, the police have deployed 27 platoons of security personnel in sensitive areas. More than 45 senior police officials are supervising the security operations.
