Morigaon (Assam), 1 June (HS): The situation became very tense on Sunday morning regarding the cattle theft incident in Barkurani of Mayang. Villagers set fire to a truck (AS-02DC-5220) involved in the cattle theft incident. During this, after catching two thieves, the villagers beat both the thieves fiercely in front of the police. The thieves have been taken into custody by the police. However, four thieves managed to escape from the spot.
Police sources have told that last night a gang of thieves escaped by stealing 8 cattle from the house of a villager in Kapoujari of Mayang when he was sleeping in the house. But on Sunday morning, the gang of thieves again reached to steal the cattle, but this time their luck was bad and they could not succeed.
The two arrested thieves confessed all the things about the thefts that happened in the area when the villagers beat them. The houses of the thieves involved in the gang are in Kusiani and Siddhaguri of Mayang. For a long time, people were in terror due to the incidents of theft. Finally, two thieves were caught today.
The thieves involved in the gang have been identified as Mainul, Rafikul, Asadul, Babu, Mosharraf and Mahmudul. As soon as the information was received, additional police personnel were deployed at the spot. The arrested thieves have been identified as Asadul and Mosharraf. The remaining four thieves are said to be absconding. The police is searching for them vigorously.
