- There will be no VIP culture: Minister Ranjit Das
Guwahati, 2 June (HS): The grand festival of Mahamaya Maa Kamakhya, Ambubachi Mela, is starting from June 22. Lakhs of devotees, saints and sages from the country and abroad will once again head towards Nilachal Mountain. The Assam Tourism Department has completed preparations for Ambubachi.
In a press conference held at the tourism office in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati on Monday, Tourism Minister Ranjit Kumar Das gave information about the preparations for Ambubachi Mela 2025. He said that this time the inclination of Ambubachi will be on June 22 at 2:56 pm and Nivriti on June 26 at 3 pm.
Minister Das made it clear that this time there will be no VIP or VVIP facility in the fair. He said that the fair will be held in a completely spiritual and simple atmosphere.
This time, the government is spending ₹4.55 crore for the fair.
Minister Das appealed to the devotees not to come to the Kamakhya temple premises wearing shoes and slippers during Ambubachi. Instead, they have been advised to come wearing socks.
For the convenience of the devotees, carpets will be laid on the way from the main gate of the temple and drinking water will be arranged at various places.
So far, 4 camps have been set up, which are especially for the devotees coming from outside states. Minister Das also said that if the crowd is more than expected, the number of camps will be increased.
