Guwahati, 01 June (HS): Senior journalist Dr. Harshvardhan Tripathi believes that journalism influenced by the colonial mindset and leftist viewpoint has gone astray today.

He said, Narad ji did not have a palace, nor did he go to Indra's palace and do government-sponsored journalism. But today's media is trying to follow the footsteps of the British rulers, which is worrying. In the recent atmosphere of global unrest, the form of anti-national journalism has become disappointing.

Dr. Tripathi said, Why are the journalists who call the Pahalgam incident a result of 'religious bitterness' afraid of calling it Islamic terrorism? The leaders and journalists who are calling the global weapons destroyed on Pakistani soil with Indian indigenous technology a lie, are actually trying to break India's self-confidence.

Dr Tripathi said at the Devarshi Narad Jayanti organized by Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Assam at Sudarshanalay in Barbari, Guwahati on Sunday, “The left-leaning journalism is going in the wrong direction against the equality policy of Indian society. The views of Gandhiji and Dr. Ambedkar are also being presented in a distorted manner. This is the time when journalists need to adopt ethics like Narad.”

He said that “those who oppose detention camps in Assam remain silent on the torture camps in China. Under the guise of fake news and fact-check, journalists today should show purity of conduct.”

On this occasion, children's literature writer and editor of 'Mouchak' and 'Natun Avishkar', Shantanu Tamuli was awarded the Devarshi Narad Samman. He was presented with Cheleng Chadar, memento, book, Bharat Mata's statue, honor letter and a cheque of ₹50,000. Shantanu Tamuli called it a “contemporary inspiration for Assamese children's literature”.

At the beginning of the program, the chief guest Dr. Tripathi was honored by Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Assam Vice President Guruprasad Medhi by giving him a Phoolam Gamocha, Aranai, Sarai and Granth. Along with this, special honors were also given to Senior Sub-Editor Himanshu Pathak, Prag News Input Editor Digant Sahariya and Niyamiya Varta Staff Reporter Khanin Deka.

In his speech, Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Assam Secretary Kishore Shivam underlined the importance of the word “Narad” in Indian culture and his journalistic contribution. On this occasion, many dignitaries including the President of the organization Dr. Gaurang Sharma, RSS Assa Province Prachar Pramukh Dr. Sunil Mohanti, Assam Publication Council Secretary Pramod Kalita were present. The meeting was conducted by Nav Bujarbaruwa.

The program started with lighting of lamps on the statue of Bharat Mata, which was given dignity by the Narada Stotra presented by singer Sharat Raga.
