Jerusalem/Jenin, May 22 (H.S.): A shooting incident involving Israeli soldiers near a diplomatic delegation in Jenin, West Bank, has ignited global diplomatic outrage. The delegation, which included representatives from the EU, Turkey, Ireland, Spain, and France, faced no casualties, but concerns for the diplomats' safety have escalated. Several countries have condemned the soldiers' actions as unacceptable. The Turkish Foreign Ministry described the event as a gross violation of international norms and a threat to diplomatic life, calling for accountability from Israel.

Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris expressed shock and insisted on a thorough investigation. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced plans to summon the Israeli ambassador, labeling the incident unacceptable. EU Foreign Affairs Chief Josep Borrell also demanded investigation and accountability for those responsible. The Spanish Foreign Ministry condemned the shooting as a violation of diplomatic protection rights and vowed to coordinate their response with other affected nations. Israeli forces stated the delegation had strayed from the designated path and entered a prohibited area, asserting that warning shots were fired to redirect them, with no harm caused.
