New Delhi, May 2 (H.S.):President Droupadi Murmu emphasized senior citizens' vital role in society and their guidance for future generations.Their wisdom and companionship should be cherished.

During the Ageing with Dignity initiative at Rashtrapati Bhavan, organized by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, several significant measures were unveiled, including the Senior Citizen Welfare Portal, the virtual inauguration of homes for seniors, distribution of assistive devices, and a memorandum of understanding with the Brahma Kumaris organization.

The Welfare Portal aims to be a comprehensive digital resource for senior citizens. President Murmu emphasized the collective responsibility of society to ensure that older individuals live their later years with dignity and vitality. She highlighted the government's efforts to empower seniors, enabling them to engage actively in life.

The President encouraged everyone to prioritize the happiness and welfare of the elderly, acknowledging the cultural significance of respecting parents and elders. She pointed out that children often find joy in their relationships with grandparents, who provide emotional support to families.

Moreover, in today’s fast-paced world, the guidance of seniors is invaluable for the younger generation as they face life’s challenges. The President underscored the importance of spiritually empowered seniors for the nation's progress and prosperity.
