New Delhi, May 2 (HS): The Supreme Court has disposed of the petition seeking the cancellation of bail for BJP leader Pragya Singh Thakur, who is accused in the Malegaon blast case. A bench headed by Justice BV Nagarathna stated that the trial court has already reserved its decision on this matter, so there is no point in hearing this petition now.

The petitioner Nisar opposed bail for Pragya Singh Thakur on health grounds, despite serious allegations. The Malegaon explosion on September 29, 2008, resulted in eight deaths and over 80 injuries. Initially investigated by the Maharashtra ATS, the case was later transferred to the NIA. Arrested by the ATS, Pragya Thakur has spent nearly nine years in jail, accused of planning the blast and supplying the motorcycle used.
