Mangaluru, 02 May (H.S.) : The brutal murder of Suhas Shetty (34), a Hindu organization activist and rowdy-sheeter, by a group of miscreants in the Bajpe area of Mangaluru, Karnataka, on the evening of 01 May has created a strong political stir in the state. In the wake of the murder of the Hindu activist, the opposition BJP has expressed outrage against the Congress government, alleging that the killing of Hindus in the state is being carried out due to the politics of appeasement of the Congress government.
Hindu activist Suhas Shetty was hacked to death with a Talwar by unidentified persons last night in Kinnipadavu near Bajpe in Mangaluru. Suhas Shetty, a former member of the Bajrang Dal, was allegedly involved in the murder of one Fazil. He was the main accused in the Fazil murder case.
Fazil's murder was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the killing of BJP activist Praveen Nettaru in 2022, and now there is suspicion that Suhas Shetty's murder may have been carried out in retaliation for Fazil's murder.
In the wake of this incident, a political war of words has intensified in the state. Opposition leader R. Ashok and BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra have demanded that the investigation into the case be handed over to the NIA.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responding to the accusations, has clarified that the police have said that the murdered man was a rowdy sheeter, and officials have been instructed to gather complete information about the incident. He said that human life is very important, and the culprits, whoever they are, will be immediately identified, arrested and action will be taken according to the law.
