Chandigarh, May 11 (HS): The Punjab Police has arrested two Pakistani spies from Malerkotla in the state. They are accused of providing classified military information to an officer at the Pakistani High Commission. In return, they received online payments.
Punjab Police Director General Gaurav Yadav stated on Sunday that based on a tip-off, one person was arrested from Malerkotla, who, upon questioning, revealed information about his accomplice. The police have arrested both individuals and seized two mobile phones from them. Interrogation is underway to determine how long they have been leaking classified information and what types of information they have provided to the official of the Pakistani High Commission.
The DGP reported that preliminary investigations revealed that both arrested suspects were in constant contact with their handler and were working under their direction, recording activities with local youths and sending them through their mobile phones. A case has been registered against them, and further action has been initiated.
