New Delhi, May 11 (H.S.): The ceasefire decision was initiated by Pakistan, but India will continue its military operation 'Sindoor.' A strategic discussion between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) from both nations is scheduled for May 12 at noon. India has issued a warning to prevent ceasefire violations, asserting that any repeat incidents will be met with a strict response. The Army Chief has empowered commanders to retaliate against Pakistani violations. Despite the ceasefire, Operation 'Sindoor' has yielded significant achievements for the Indian armed forces, with 100 terrorists killed, including three high-profile figures. Additionally, around 40 Pakistani soldiers reportedly died from Indian shelling across the Line of Control (LoC).
The Indian Air Force (IAF) targeted and destroyed various Pakistani military bases, with claims of inflicting casualties on 35 to 40 Pakistani Army personnel during retaliatory actions. Importantly, no IAF bases were harmed in aerial assaults by Pakistan, while all Pakistani attacks on Indian airspace were successfully mitigated by IAF air defense systems. The IAF also neutralized three of Pakistan's air defense systems and severely damaged runways of two airbases.
DGMO Rajiv Ghai emphasized that Operation 'Sindoor' was conducted to penalize those responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives. He accused Pakistan of violating the LoC by shelling civilian areas, leading to casualties among Indian civilians. The Indian army retaliated by destroying terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), with the IAF targeting nine identified terrorist bases.
DGMO Ghai reported drone and aircraft incursions from Pakistan on the night of May 9-10, aimed at Indian military sites. He noted that India's strategic deployments, including air defense and electronic warfare units, successfully repelled these incursions. Despite ongoing drone attacks, the IAF and Indian Army's integrated defense system ensured no significant damage was incurred, even amidst extensive enemy activities with unmanned aerial vehicles targeting cities from Srinagar to Naliya.
Air Marshal A.K. Bharti confirmed the readiness of India’s air defenses during these assaults. He revealed that Indian forces promptly targeted military installations in Lahore and Gujranwala in retaliation. However, the ongoing drone operations necessitated careful coordination to prevent civilian casualties, as Pakistani aircraft operated in proximity. Bharti showcased footage demonstrating the impact of Indian missile strikes on terrorist camps in Muridke and Bahawalpur, underscoring the operational successes of 'Sindoor.'
