New Delhi/Beijing, May 11 (HS): Following the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, a significant telephone conversation took place late Saturday night between India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The focus of this conversation was on the recent 'Operation Sindoor' and regional peace.

Doval made it clear to Wang Yi that following the severe damage to Indian citizens in the Pahalgam terror attack, action against terrorism was essential. He stated, “India does not want war; it was not our choice, but action was necessary in response to the terrorist attack.” He expressed hope that both India and Pakistan would soon restore peace and stability in the region with full commitment to the ceasefire.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi condemned the pahalgam terrorist attack during this conversation and stated that China opposes all forms of terrorism. He remarked, The current global scenario is unstable, and maintaining peace and stability in the Asian region is a significant challenge. Both India and Pakistan are neighbors of China and should pursue a path of cooperation and dialogue.

Wang Yi appreciated Doval's stance that war is not India's priority. He expressed hope that India and Pakistan would exercise restraint and resolve their differences through dialogue and consultation, preventing further escalation of tension.

He said, China supports a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire between India and Pakistan. This is the desire of both countries as well as the entire international community.

Tension in the region escalated following India's action against Pakistan's terrorist bases labeled 'Operation Sindoor'. President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire, and now China's mediatory role has intensified diplomatic movements regarding the situation.
