New Delhi, May 11 (HS): The Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding an immediate special session of Parliament. Earlier, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, had also expressed his request on this issue. Both Congress leaders raised this demand in the context of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
In his letter, Rajya Sabha Opposition Leader and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated, All opposition parties have demanded a special session to discuss these important issues. He clarified that this is a time to show unity, and the government should seriously consider this demand. Kharge emphasized that it is essential for all political parties to work together in the national interest.
Earlier, yesterday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, also expressed his insistence on this issue. In his letter, he said, It is necessary for people and their representatives to discuss the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindoor, and the recent ceasefire. Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that this occasion should be used to demonstrate our collective resolve.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Sachin Pilot held a press conference at the party headquarters today. He stated that the opposition has supported the central government. Regarding yesterday's sequence of events, he raised some questions. He asked whether the Indian government has accepted U.S. mediation. Pilot pointed out, This is the first time that the U.S. has announced a ceasefire.
