Hyderabad, 11 May (H.S.): The 72nd Miss World Festival officially launched on 10th May, with a spectacular ceremony at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad, marking the beginning of a month-long celebration dedicated to beauty, culture, and humanitarian values. The event kicked off with a compelling message of global peace and unity, mirroring the pageant's ethos of 'Beauty with a Purpose.'
The inauguration highlighted Telangana's rich cultural heritage through vibrant traditional folk and tribal performances, including dances like Perini, Kommu Koya, Lambada, and Oggu Dolu, providing a warm welcome to contestants from over 110 countries. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Julia Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited, were present, with Morley officially declaring the festival open. She expressed excitement about bringing the festival to Telangana, describing it as a fusion of tradition and innovation that promotes world unity and cultural appreciation.
Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of Telangana’s Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture Department, highlighted the day's significance in promoting a message of peace. Reigning Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and encouraged contestants to showcase their national heritage.
The inauguration featured a parade where contestants introduced themselves with their national flags, symbolizing unity in diversity. The festival, running from May 7 to May 31, includes various cultural and charitable activities, such as visits to Buddhavanam and heritage sites in Hyderabad.
