New Delhi, April 7 (H.S.) Former world champion Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil won the gold medal in the men's 10-meter air rifle event at the ISSF Shooting World Cup currently taking place in Argentina on Sunday. Meanwhile, India's Arjun Babuta finished in seventh place in the final.

Rudrankksh took the lead right from the start of the final. He scored 53.2 points in the first series, putting him at the top, and maintained his grip throughout the finals. Hungary’s Istvan Penyi managed to challenge him at one point, but Rudrankksh quickly bounced back and secured the gold medal. Penyi had to settle for silver.

Babuta couldn't show his potential, eliminated early

On the other hand, Arjun Babuta's performance did not meet expectations. He only scored 50.4 points in his initial five shots. Although a : of 10.5 saved him from the first elimination, he got eliminated in the next series, finishing in seventh place.

China's Wang Honghao managed to save himself from elimination several times, but in the race for the bronze medal, he fell behind Argentina's M.J. Gutierrez. Gutierrez claimed the bronze medal in front of the home crowd.

Earlier in the qualification round, Babuta and Rudrankksh secured the top two spots to enter the final, with Babuta scoring 634.5 and Rudrankksh scoring 633.7.

Kiran Ankush Jadhav also made it to the top eight, but he was competing under RPO (Ranking Points Only), which prevented him from qualifying for the final. Divyansh Singh Panwar (628.0, RPO) and Hriday Hazrika (624.6) also participated in the competition.
