Buenos Aires, April 5 (HS): India's young shooter Sift Kaur Samra brought home the country's first gold medal at the ISSF Shooting World Cup 2025. The 23-year-old Sift delivered a stellar performance in the women's 50-meter rifle 3-position competition, finishing first with a score of 458.6 points.

In this competition, Germany's Anita Maingold won the silver medal with a score of 455.3 points, while Kazakhstan's Arina Altyukhova claimed the bronze medal with 445.9 points. Sift also excelled in the qualification round, securing the top position with a score of 590 points. Her start in the final was a bit slow, and after the kneeling and prone positions, she was in eighth place. However, in the standing position, she made a tremendous comeback, scoring consistently accurate shots and ultimately clinching the gold medal.

India's other two shooters, Aashi Choukse and Shriyanka Sadangi, did not secure spots in the final. Aashi Choukse finished in 17th place with a score of 579 points, while Shriyanka scored 572 points and came in 22nd place. This marked India's second medal of the day; earlier, Chain Singh had won a bronze medal in the men's 50-meter rifle 3-position event.
