Germany, April 5 (HS): German's legendary footballer Thomas Muller confirmed on Saturday that he will bid farewell to the Bayern Munich club at the end of this season. After being associated with the club for 25 years, he has made this decision. He started his career in the club’s academy in 2000 and has played a record 743 matches for the club so far.
Muller wrote on social media platform X, The club has decided not to renew my contract for the next season. This does not align with my personal intentions, but it's important to respect the club's principles. I respect this decision.
Thomas Muller will conclude this season with Bayern Munich at the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held in a new format starting from June 14 in the United States. However, he has not yet disclosed his next club.
Once a guaranteed starter for Bayern, Muller’s role has become limited in recent years. His playing time has significantly decreased under coach Vincent Kompany. Speculations about his future had been ongoing for several months, but both the club and the player had remained silent up until now.
Thomas Muller made his debut for Bayern's senior team in 2008. Throughout his 17-year career, he played a key role in helping the club win 12 Bundesliga titles (including 11 consecutively), 2 Champions League titles, and 6 DFB-Pokal trophies. He is the third-highest goalscorer for Bayern, having scored 247 goals, behind only Gerd Muller (565 goals) and Robert Lewandowski (344 goals).
