New Delhi, April 4 (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today met with Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Prof. Mohammad Yunus on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. During this meeting, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India's concerns regarding the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. He also urged that both countries should avoid any statements that could spoil the atmosphere between them.
Prime Minister Modi is on a visit to Thailand to participate in the BIMSTEC Summit. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri mentioned in a press conference that Prime Minister Modi urged Prof. Yunus to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh and investigate cases of atrocities against them.
According to the Foreign Secretary, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India's support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh. He emphasized to Chief Adviser Yunus India’s desire to build a positive and constructive relationship with Bangladesh. He stated that for peace and security along the border, it is essential to strictly adhere to the law and prevent illegal border crossings.
