Guwahati, 29 April (HS): Chandmari police has busted a gang that stole about 75 kg of iron rods from a roadside drain construction site being built by the Public Works Department (PWD) in the Pensionpara area and arrested five accused.

The arrested accused include Sanidul Islam (Barpeta), Nizam Ali (Kharupetia), Udbhav Ali (Goalpara), Manowar Hussain (Goalpara) and Abdul Ajit (Chandmari, Guwahati).

The police nabbed all the accused on the basis of secret information and recovered the stolen iron rods from a nearby scrap yard. The involvement of the scrap yard owner has also come to light in this case. The police are engaged in further investigation.
