Bengaluru, April 2 (H.S.): Indian tennis players delivered an outstanding performance on the first day of the SM Krishna Memorial Open held at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru. Siddharth Rawat, Nikita Ianin, Chirag Duhan, Maxim Zhukov, Nick Chappell, and Ryuki Matsuda all secured victories in their respective matches.
Dominance of Indian Players in Singles Matches
Siddharth Rawat defeated Digvijay Pratap Singh in an exciting match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. After the match, Rawat said, Digvijay was returning after a long time, which gave me an advantage at some crucial moments. The weather was challenging, but I managed to maintain my rhythm.
Nikita Ianin advanced to the next round after defeating Hitesh Chauhan in a hard-fought match that lasted three hours, with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(7). Japan's Ryuki Matsuda defeated the third-seeded Moerani Boujige with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Chirag Duhan triumphed over the Czech Republic’s Dominik Plana with a score of 7-6(7), 6-4, while America’s Nick Chappell secured an easy victory against R.P. Senthil Kumar with a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Maxim Zhukov delivered an impressive performance by defeating the seventh-seeded Dev Javia 6-4, 6-1. He clinched the match by winning four consecutive games in the second set.
**Indian Players Shine in Doubles Matches as Well**
In the doubles competition, the second-seeded pair of Vishnu Vardhan and Sai Ganta Karthik Reddy defeated Rishi Reddy and Ishaq Iqbal with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Meanwhile, Siddhant Prajwal Dev and Nitin Kumar Sinha recorded a victory against Kabir Hans and Atharv Sharma with a score of 6-3, 4-6, [10-3].
Additionally, the fourth-seeded Aryan Shah and Karan Singh defeated Man Kesharwani and Faisal Kamar with a score of 7-5, 6-1. The top-seeded pair of Adil Kalyanpur and Cody Pierson made a fantastic comeback, overcoming Ryuki Matsuda and Moerani Boujige with a score of 2-6, 6-3, [10-5].
