This will be the first time these two teams will face each other in the playoffs. MBSG has already reached the final four due to winning the ISL League Shield, while the Red Miners secured their spot in the double-leg semifinal by defeating NorthEast United FC 2-0 in a single-leg knockout match.

The Jamshedpur team will look to take advantage of a strong start in the semifinal clash, but they have lost their last two home matches.

Since the start of 2025, Jamshedpur has scored the most goals (22), which is one more than Mohun Bagan Super Giant (21). However, MBSG holds the record for the highest total goals so far with 47.

Mohun Bagan has only won one of its last six ISL playoff matches in regular or extra time (3 draws, 2 losses), including a 1-3 defeat against Mumbai City in the final last season.

Jamshedpur's head coach Khalid Jamil appeared optimistic before the match. He said, “We still have two legs to play, and we are up against a very good team. We are positive because we are going to play at home, and we should think about a positive result.”

Mohun Bagan Super Giant's Spanish head coach Jose Molina confirmed his team's commitment to winning the ISL Cup. He stated, “We are ready, and we want to win the ISL Cup. We are very happy with this season, but we also want to win the cup.”

There have been 10 matches between the two teams in the ISL. Mohun Bagan has won five times, while Jamshedpur FC has won three matches. Two matches have ended in a draw.
