New Delhi, April 19 (H.S.): India strongly condemned the murder of a prominent leader of the Hindu community, Bhabesh Chandra Roy, in Bangladesh on Saturday. India advised the interim government there to fulfill its responsibilities without any discrimination.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, We have seen with anguish the abduction and brutal murder of Hindu minority leader Bhavesh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh. This murder follows a pattern of systematic persecution of Hindu minorities under the interim government, while perpetrators of previous such incidents roam free without punishment.

Jaiswal further wrote, We condemn this incident and remind the interim government once again to fulfill its responsibility to protect all minorities, including Hindus, without any excuses or discrimination.

In the latest incident of minority violence in Bangladesh, Bhabesh Chandra Roy, a prominent leader of the Hindu community in the Dinajpur district, was abducted from his home on Friday night, and a group of assailants on motorcycles brutally beat him to death. Bhabesh Chandra Roy was the vice president of the Biral unit of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad. He was also a prominent leader in the local Hindu community.
